This program will incorporate low and high rope training patterned after exercises used by inuit people for hundreds of years.  Kayakers use the training to develop strength and balance to enhance their ability to roll a kayak.

We will have some fun competitions throughout the year, where students will have an opportunity to measure their progress on a series of rope gymnastic skills competed in the annual Greenland Kayak championships.

Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention Workshops. Implementation of ACL Injury Prevention Strategies.

These workshops will identify and analyze aspects of athletic performance that may predispose an athlete to injury and weaker performance. We will also instruct the student in specific skills that may help prevent those injuries and also enhance performance.  The first series of workshops will identify some of the prominent factors in the cause of ACL injuries, and exercises that may be used to help change some of the dynamics involved.  Many of the exercises selected are currently being used in professional, collegiate, and scholastic training programs. Current studies indicate that girls are 2 to 6 times more likely to sustain an ACL injury, than boys. A great majority occur non-contact,in soccer and sports that involve rapid changes in direction. We look at why and what might be done to enhance performance and hopefully reduce injuries.
